Okay so i just bought the HP p6404y. And it only comes with a onboard geforce9100....so im looking into buying a better video card for it...but when i looked on newegg i noticed that they sell PCI Express x16 2.1, PCI Express x16 2.0 and PCI Express x16. When i look at the specs for my comp online it just show PCI Express x16. But when i look at newegg they have like 14 choices for cards...and for 2.1 and 2.0 they have like 200+. Which makes me think i do have 2.0 or 2.1 but it just doesnt show it on the websites that im looking at my specs on. Does anyone have any incite on this. Cus i cant really look at cards unless i know which i have? thx in advanced - SyNik4L

You have a PCI-Express x16 2.0 slot (4GB/s) bus cap/limit. So look to invest in a PCI-Express x16 2.0 card, you can go for a 2.1 card but there's not difference in the bus frequency. Everything PCI-Express x16 wether 1.0, 2.0, 2.1, 3.0 will work on any of those revisions all the real difference is bus frequency, bus limits, latency etc.

BTW: PCI-Express x16 3.0 isn't yet available when it does hit the market should be expecting 8GB/s bus cap/limit.

Also what is the budget for your graphics card? let us know will be happy to help pick one for you.
