The ram Girtho suggested is excellent stuff, it's not for overclockers but for you it should be excellent if 2GB is what you want than you can't beat the price for what you get.

thanks for the suggestions...but isnt ddr400 better than sdram? and also for ram that is compatible with my mobo...
i was looking more for the BEST ram available, which means that price is not a factor (you can tell me the most expensive ram if you want - if its the best)
if the best ram is one that can be overclocked, by all means tell me the name, because i may not overclock since its already the best!
    thanks again!

Check out Geil ONE series, that is some amazing stuff:cool: And DDR is way ahead of SDRAM, I wouldn't even try mixing them together as you may get instability and you probably won't get any performance gain as the 512 of PC3200 will have to run at the SDRAM speed so everything matches up...not good.

sorry about this post, cause the ram i quoted is not available in 2gb....so i propose this...OCZ EL DDR PC-4000 1024MB Gold Edition Dual Channel (2GB)
is it any good and is it compatible with the asus a8n-sli premium.

It's excellent stuff, runs a little hot but great if you want to overclock. The GoldSeries http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227206 is very good but it would fill up your dimm slots if you bought two kits. The voltage is high but your mobo will support 2.8 anyway. Platinum Edition ram is very nice but I would say that the very best ram you can get is the following: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220140 You'll just need to buy two. The latency is quite good for such a high speed and it will work with your mobo:)

i just looked at the patriot ram you recommended for me in newegg, however i saw that it is sdram, i dont know alot about ram, but i do know that ddr400 is better that sdram, isnt it? and also, wouldnt buying 2 mean i will have 4gb ram? (4 X 512mb)

All modern ram, like this from Patriot is DDR SDRAM, which is also refered to as simply DDR. It's sort of an overly explicit notation as it's basically saying DoubleDataRate SynchronousDynamicRandomAccessMemory but it's the right stuff. And 4x512=2GB as 2x512=1GB.
