win xp service pack 1

    hi i have just had a new computer,other one died,i have been re-installing my programes and have come across a problem.i have tried to re-install pinnacle studio but iy gets so far and stops and reports that c:\windows\system32\drivers\apapi.sys is running,and cannot install sp1.anyone got any answers please.?

    hasn't service pack 1 got the blaster virus protection and that other one!

    i wouldn't of hooked it up to the net till i had SP1 at least

    TRy updateing straight to sp2 via window automatic updates or www.windowsupdate.com. if you still want to install sp1 try ctrl + alt + Delete and see if you can end the process. or unistall the atapi software and reinstall it after. hope this helps Dave :good:

    SP1 does not have the blaster patch, it is part of the update roll up package which can only be installed after you have SP1...SP2 covers all that + a few dozen other patches....But SP2 can be a real issue for you and some of your software.
