hi can anyone help please i have a new computer and have been trying to re-install some of my programes.but keep getting a win xp service pack 1 set up error.c:\windows \system 32\drivers\atapi.sys is open or in use by another application.close open applications,and try again,i have been to start up and closed everything that was running,but it still will not install sp1.can anyone help please.
atapi's a cdrom, unless I'm mistaken, which I usally am.. I'd just go to microsoft and use the update facility and get SP2 instead - its SP1 as well.
press ctlr+alt+ delete and see if you can end it there m8 failing this unistall the atapi driver install what you what then reinstall the drivers for it m8. hope thi helps. Dave :good:
