Win xp SP2 question

I am running winxp sp2. When I have the computer running for a while and then go to "Start" "All Programs" the list of programs takes long to show up than normal what could be the problem and how can this be fixed. The hard drive is a SATA 150 Maxtor. Please help if you can.

the delay time could set too long eg.3000 milliseconds or there could be too many programs in your list, try cleaning it up if you havent already done so!
 
i suggest you sort your start menu so it is clean and tidy
ie-alphabetical order, create seperate folders for music players, cd&dvd burning, utilities, antivirus and syware etc...
When you put your mouse over the all programs list for example, the delay time is simply how long it takes for the All Programs list to pop up!
 
Well if you ahve a lot of programs there it isn't the delay, so you need not worry about it. But I think it is a registry tweak. Either that or you use TweakXP. But having a lot of programs in there will slow it down a lot. Try removing programs you don't use.
 
i know, cause thats what i said!
But he also said that it happens after a while the computer is turned on so that also indicates to me that his RAM is possibly being chewed up!
 
Try to clean up the unwanted programs from the startup and also clear the temprory internet files and cookies cleared then u can also do a disk clean up.
Then try to check whether it is working fine hopefully it should work
