EDIT: After much searching (2-3 hours). I Found out, I have managed to make the connection stable within the 2 connections. However, it is slow when transfering large files.
I tested it with a 3.97 GB file.
My Desktop is going to copy the file from my Laptop.
I can estimate how long it will take for the file to be transfered. I done the following calculation, as my link is 54 Mbps - (fifty-four megabits per second), I done the following:
54/8=6.75 MB/s
3.97GB x 1024= 4,065MB
4,065/6.75 = 602 seconds / 60 = 10 mins
So the file should take 10 mins to complete, however I am looking at Windows estimated time and it was at 90 mins! Not to my discovery I found out that my connection is going up and down during the process! The speed started at 54 going to 48, 36, 18, 4, 2 and then back up again. Also the signal strength is going up and down, i.e. 4 bars to 3,2,5,1,4 etc.To many of us this is an unstable connection.
However, my Laptop has a perfect connection, always at 54 Mbps, and at 5 bars signal strength. The computers are located next to eachother in the same room. The Router is approx. 50 feet away in the master bedroom.
I ask how do I make an improved connection and how do I improve my speed? Thank you in advance. As much as I would love to go wired, I personaly don't like the looks of the wires all around the place.
