I recently reinstalled Windows XP Pro SP2 on my old PC. Since the reinstall, I am no longer able to access burned DVDs. When I try to access the disk, explorer hangs. These burned DVDs were burned on this machine with the same drive used to access them prior to the reinstall. The same disks work fine on my other PCs. All of the drivers have been updated and I have even updated the firmware on the DVD-ROM.

    Hardware specs
    CPU: AMD Athlon XP 1900+
    MB: Soyo SY-KV7 Dragon Plus
    VID: ATI Radeon 8700
    IDE1 MA: IBM-DTTA-351010 (10GB HDD)
    IDE1 SL: WDC WD800BB-00BSA0 (80GB HDD)
    IDE2 MA: WDC WD800BB-00BSA0 (80GB HDD)
    IDE2 SL: _NEC DVD_RW ND-2510A

    Things I've tried:
Verified that the drivers are up to date.
Verified that Windows Updates are current.
Tried several different brands of burned media including DVD+R DL media.
Moved the DVD-ROM to IDE2 Master.
    Replaced the IDE Cable.
Removed the HDD from the IDE2 chain.
    Updated the DVD-ROM firmware.

This was working perfectly prior to the reinstall of Windows. And, I have tried about everything I can think of. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have the software that you burned the DVD's installed?

No, I do not. I will install it and see if it makes a difference. Why would this make a difference?
