windows installation freezes

i am trying to install windows 98 on a computer and it get so far when it is putting the info on the computer and then stops how can i fix this and the cd has scratches on it. :confused:
 
if the scratches are deep enough, they can destroy the sectors and data on the CD so there is no repair. You can repair cd's protective surfaces sometimes when scratches cause read errors.
 
i wouldn't advise you to really buy them but d-skins are small, thin slip ons for a disk that allow the laser to ignore some scratches, but not major ones
 
what do they look like and can you send me a link where to get them rather than online i don't have a credit card. what kind of store carries them i need to see what they look like
 
i wanted to buy a few myself but I cant find a store with them, they seem like small skins that you pop on the underside of the disk, they vary in colors
 
will the d-skins work so i can finish installing windows 98 onto the computer and if not what else can i try to do. i heard i could extract the files from the start up disk is that true and if it is how do i do that i am not familiar with computers.
 
dont get it man its a ripoff in my opinion now, they seem to just protect and not really help read the cd

sorry for proposing the idea in the first place, though there are special devices that fix discs, wonder if i wait if ninja will find soomethin for you haha

do you know what it looks like have you seen any on the internet or have you tried it let me know what the exact name is
 
how musch does it cost i live in the united states i thought it was a bottle of a solution i might as well pay a place that fixes cds for $3 a pierce rtather than spend $20 or $30 for the machine when i don't know how to use it. :confused:
