Hi, my old computer that previously was a server is having a hard time trying to get windows to install. I insert the CD, it boots, i go thorugh all the steps, it format, copies files, then reboots, and this is were the problem is, it wont boot...., it gets past the diagnostic screen, but then all there is, is just a black screen with blinking line the the top left corner, i have tried changing jumper config, re formatting etc.., but still the same problem :s. Any ideas as to what could be causing this? Specs: Celeron S 1.2Ghz 384MB SD Ram Intel 810. 250Gb WD HDD.
I cant reach the boot menu, windows splash doesent even come up, if i have the Windows CD in, it says press any key to boot from cd, and after that, stops at the end and goes no further.
No, i am trying to install Windows XP. Also i should of mentioned, the C: drive is the one with all my stuff on, the D: drive is the one i am installing Windows on. **Edit~~ I think i got it, i use a bootable version of Partition Magic and i changed the Partition with all my stuff on the a logical partition, and the one i am going to install windows on to Primary, it said that a Logical partition may not be bootable, but the wierd thing is it was before, i installed the last OS on a Logical Partition.
