Windows Xp - Cursors

I'd really like to download (easily as a bit of a puter nerd) a nice psychedlic animated cursor. Used to have one on Windows 98 but can't get one for XP without confusing instructions. I'm using one of the designated ones in XP from the Control Panel Mouse settings but would like something more exciting.

Any advice please from anyone?

I agree with you - I've avoided those sites. There was a site called Cursor Cafe which had some nice ones, but when I clicked on the cursors they failed to load and they are no longer operating unfortunately.

I may have to put up with the ones that are available via XP.

You can get some there, I wouldn't recommend getting them though, usually that 3rd party software is full of spyware/adware, just like those smileys from smiley central, *shudders*

I think this will suite your needs:

http://www.stardock.com/products/cursorxp/

It has a huge library of animated cursors, and there's no spyware included as far as I am aware.

On a personal note though, I find most cursors can have an adverse effect on system peformance, similar with the use of 'over the top' graphical effects and shells. While these cursors look nice, they are pretty impractical to use!

I have heard of Stardock, but don't they tend to have whole sets of cursors rather than individual ones?

I know there wasn't a problem with using a special cursor on W98 but XP seems to conflict with all kinds of things.

Ah well, that's (supposedly) progress ...

I'll have a look at the site, but will probably decide to give up the idea.

Thanks,

Carol

There are a few sets of cursors included with CursorXP. However, you can download more as you see fit
