what is coa

Basically if you 'bought' a copy of XP with out a COA, then you got ripped.

Its the CD Key required to upgrade, and as far as I know you can't buy XP from a website without a COA, unless of course it wasn't..a legitimate copy in the first place.

I may be wrong, but that is my understanding of a COA.

Well it could be shipped without a COA, but usually it means all you bought was the media and not the license (worthless). Unless, of course, it was a non-OEM licensed copy. I've actually got some of those that didn't come with a COA, just an orange sticker with the product key. And no, they're not bootleg copies, they're actually hologrammed copies I got from MS reps some time back. When you spend $5,000 on worthless MS security training, they tend to give you free stuff. :ohah:

it is a retail copy of windows xp pro sp2 upgrade. i have managed to get a code to activate it and register it now. does anyone know where i can buy additional licenses as i build systems for customers and i have always done it legally by buying oem software etc. and i know it will be cheaper going down this route. i would appreciate it if anyone could shed a little light on the subject. thanks. :)
