I recently got Windows Vista Home Premium free with my upgrade coupon. I've installed everyting. But then I've seen that new theme of Vista, and its SO UGLY! Now my question, is there any way to get the default theme from Windows XP (Luna theme) on Vista? If I load the theme files from XP, then I just get the Vista Basic theme.
The reason the theme looks so ugly is because its Home Premium, this is how it looks in Ultimate: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v319/thehub/desktop2.jpg Its worth a try to get the XP theme, it may be that you might have to patch a file like what needed to be done in XP to add unsigned themes. Patcher is called UXPatcher but only works with Windows XP, just tried it, says OS is not supported.
My version looks just like the one on that pic. It has windows aero enabled, and I don't like aero. The only other theme that it has is windows classic. But I haven't activated vista yet, so I'll return it to the store.
You like the Aero look??? I think it's only Basic edition that doesn't have the Aero Glass thing. Windows Vista: Editions
I dont see whats wrong with the Aero look, its certainly better than Luna Theme, that theme came across as low res crap tbh, i was promt to install windowblinds and go find a decent alternative theme.
I personally like the Luna theme, and not the Aero glass. Maybe because I use XP from the moment that it was released, and now I'm used to that theme. If I use a different theme (windows classic, Luna Olive, Luna Sylver, Windows MCE or Aero) then I get a serious headache. But that only happens with Windows. The themes of Mac OS and KDE from Linux don't bother me.
