Wine Doors is actually designed as a replacement to Winetools, Wine can be described as a Win dows Emulator, however that is a debatable fact as many people believe Wine is not a win emulator[ot]here comes the argument starter[/ot]
i personally believe Wine is a windows emulator as is Crossover Office (but Wine is free under the GPL)

Wine actually runs about 90% of Win software (most software just works without tweaking anything, however some win software does require some tweaking)

Wine Doors will be beta released on March 16th 2007 with a .1 released soon afterwards (if all goes well)

Edit: A set of benchmarks has proven that under some conditions, Wine can beat XP SP2 at some tests. To be exact, out of 147 tests, WINE beats Windows XP on 67. The WINE version used was 0.9.5, running on a Gentoo Linux system, with some fairly decent hardware.[ot]ironic that Wine can beat XP at it's own game[/ot]

Wine isn't really an emulator, it provides a compatible replacement for the win32 API, which most windows software uses. Windows programmers use the code in the win32 libraries, and wine provides a free alternative for these programs, without actually using any proprietary code in the form of winelib.
