Wireless link pc to laptop

Hi,
I am new and apologise if this thread has already been made but couldn't find an answer!!
I would just like to know how to, if its possible, to use my new laptop to link wirelessly to my pc without the need to use my current monitor. I would like to be able to control my pc using the laptop as my monitor, hope that makes sense?!!
Basically I want to turn on my pc and be able to use it from my laptop without having to be sat in front of it!!

Providing you have a network (or wireless network), you could use software such as Real VNC, or if your computer runs Windows XP Professional you can use the remote desktop connection software.
