Trying to connect 2 computers so each other can browse files. i was considering putting this ASUS WL-138G Wireless LAN PCI Adapter IEEE802.11G 54Mbps on both computers. Am i on the right track?

Yup, they should work. Make sure you set them to 'computer-to-computer' or 'ad hoc' mode (this is the method of just connecting two computers together).

If at a later date you decide to add a wireless access point, or a wireless router then you will need to set them to 'infastructure' mode.
