I have a old school Compaq SR1123WM and I am not really a big user of games on a PC, got my 360 for that. But to speed it up at least a little bit is it worth putting a new P4 - 2.8 Ghz processor in it?

Just to get at least a little bit more out of it. Currently it has a Intel Celeron 2.66 Ghz Processor in it with L2 128k Cache and i'm looking at a P4 - 2.8 Ghz L2 1 MB Cache 533Mhz FSB. Motherboard does not support 800Mhz FSB.. The processor (p4) is only 24 bucks so not a big spend.

I Already put in a cheap PCI FX5500 - 256 MB card just to help out a little bit. Nothing to fancy.

If you have the money around and you want the extra speed I would go for it.
