This is very annoying, I connect and go to firefox and what do I see? A flickering screen of nothingness, no bookmarks to speak of, no the homepage was changed from HF to mozilla's thing, and it couldn't open any pages, it said "looking for www.google.com" for instance and then some message would pop up saying it couldn't be found?! I rebooted hoping to see all my bookmarks and the homepage back in place etc. but nothing, however I could display HF's page now but I still got the weird flickering top and bottom border thing (the bottom footer that displays the load status and the bookmark bar keep twitching and bouncing untill the page loads or if I open history for example :x: :eek:hah: ). I also found the "my computer" option was blank in HF but for some reason it kept my cookies so I could punch back in at least. I tried imporing my explorer options as a last resort but I got nothing. This is reallly weird and bloody annoying. Any thoughts at all would be greatly appreciated, this is probably really simple but you know me. Thanks!

Man, that's really wierd! I've never heard of anything like that - but does IE work fine? Also, if FF isn't at the latest version, you may try installing v 1.0.4 and if I were you, I'd install over it anyways.. maybe it'll fix something. I'm no genious or anything, and this may not work, but I figure it's better than nothing.

Sure, good idea, I'm a version or two behind anyway, I'm sure I won't get my bookmarks and all that back but it should fix the bouncing. I just don't understand what this is happening, maybe it has something to do with the fact that before I ended a whole mess of processes?...Though when I restart I still get the bouncing.:x:

The only think I can think of is that the data on the hard-drive is somehow corrupted. Your best bet is a re-install and see if that fixes it, I would also run scandisk to make sure you're not running into physical problems with the drive itself.

Thanks guys, I don't get any of that weird twitching/bouncing anymore so I guess it sorted itself out somewhat, shame I lost all my bookmarks though:(

firefox makes a back up of them, check. right click the bookmarks tool bar, go to mange folder, then hit "Import" and see if it kept them.

Thanks Waffles, sadly I got nothing from IE and I searched throughout the FF folder but nothing caught my eye. (and I still occasionally get the weird bouncing, I shouldn't have spoken too soon).

Excellent Fred! I never thought it would be as simple as adding a bookmark, can't believe I overlooked that possibility. Thanks mate.:good:

No problem :good: I never thought it'd be something like that either. I just thought to go to www.getfirefox.com and clicked on the forums. I simply looked up "bouncing" and got lots of results. Glad I could help!

Hehe Ex I just experienced this bouncing as you said. In my case though its a faulty theme, shame really I liked this one.

Yeah, I hate when I find this really nice theme but it screws some basic funtionality up. Just out of curiosity what theme was it so I don't waste my time pulling out more hair.
