X1800 XT breaks 1GHz barriar

Man I wonder how many 6800 Ultra's that wold equal. Or how many times faster it is than an GeForce 2 MX, probably in the neighborhood of 20 thousand:) Totally crazy stuff right there, that samsung GDDR3 is some nice stuff.
 
Wow, thats some sick speeds there!
just think proberbly not too long in the fututre those speeds might end up been stock speeds in some cards :D
 
hmm, i wonder if, somthing like an fx5200 had nitrogen cooling and was like at -80 degrees, i wonder if it could be overclocked so far, it out performs somthing like a 6600gt or maybe a 6800gt :p

Even if it did reach the core and memory speed, I think it would still lose in a benchmark because it only has what, 4 pipelines?
 
Yeah probably but it would be cool to say my 5200 is clocked as high as my laptop or something like that.

i hope 1 day we would b able to do that ourselves, that is 1 heck of a acomplishment
 
This annoys me. There is no purpose in overclocking something if you are using cooling like dry ice or liquid nitrogen because it is an unrealiable cooling method and will have to be replaced
 
The whole point of overclocking something that far is that its NOT FOR GENERAL USE!!! Its a challange to break a record, Why are you getting annoyed? hardware overclocked to that level is only going to last a couple of days at most so really the way the cool it doesnt :swear: matter (but again, its a challange to break a record..... not to make a stable/useable computer)

Yeah I have my card overclocked to 600/1200 but I dont leave it at that, if I'm going to be gaming then I'll bump the speeds up a little bit but 600/1200 is the biggest stable overclock I've had on this card...

There's not alot of point in doing alot of things..... but people will always enjoy a challange (and this one had one heck of a result!)

It's all competition, and proving you can do what you set out to do. It's just like saying why do people break world speed records? Because they like the challenge, love goin fast, and to prove they can be the fastest on the planet.
