XP Bios Screen Boot Up Delay

I changed over one of my CD Drives to a DVD drive the other day, everything worked fine. I then had to change it back to my original drive.

Now when I boot up XP I get to the Bios screen, there is then about a 3-4 minute delay before it does anything else. It will then do memory testing, list all the drives and continue on as normal. The newly installed drives work fine.

Any idea why this is and a solution? I havent changed anything apart from the new drive, but the drive has been in my PC before without any problem!
 
I would suspect a loose IDE cable. Double check everything is in place.

You could also go into the CMOS and set your IDE channels to AUTO
 
As I said, check the cables first. Pull out each IDE cable (the cables connected to the CD-ROM and hard drive), and put them back in again in turn

If that doesn't work, then you need to enter into the CMOS setup.

1)Boot your computer, and just before Windows starts to load press DELETE. Depending on your computer brand, you may have to press F1, F2, F10 or F12. Check the manual

2)Now you should be in the CMOS setup. Look for something that says 'IDE configuration'. You will see your hard drive and CD-ROM devices listed. Make sure they are all set to auto. I can only give a rough guide as most CMOS setup utilities are different. Especially from the computer manufacturers
