Hi, I just ordered an HP Dv8000t featuring the Core Duo processor. Link: Buy HP Pavilion dv8000t series notebook PCs direct from the HP Home & Home Office Store I was going to wait for the Core Duo 2, as it has 64bit extension, but since I am taking summer school i wanted one right now. Cutting right to the point, I heard that Yonah and Merom both are going to have the same socket. If this is true, does it mean that I can upgrade my Core Duo Note Book to a Core Duo 2 Note book if circumstances force me to simply by switching the processor?
I wouldn't worry about 64 bit right now, remember, at 98 we were promised briliant 32 bit apps, but it didn't appear till xp came, so that's not really a concern. to answer your question, since they're two different cores, not sockets, it is possible to switch, but im not sure if it is possible to get it changed.
