Ok, so here goes... I built my brother a computer with Vista Home Premium which he is hooking up to a new LCD TV. The computer is being hooked up to the TV by using a DVI to HDMI adapter attached to the video card and then running an HDMI cable from the adapter to the TV. The video is working perfectly, but the issue is with the sound: When the computer boots up, the sound does not work. If you plug, then unplug normal speakers, the sound starts working and works fine until you reboot. If you boot the computer up with speakers already plugged in, the sound doesn't work until you unplug the speakers. Interestingly, under the sound devices (Start-Control Panel-Sound), the HDMI sound does not even appear until the plug/unplug. However, it is currently set to default. All drivers on the computer are up to date (It is only a couple month old build and all drivers were downloaded from their respective websites). The BIOS is also up-to-date. Several different people I work with were surprised that we got sound at all because we were using DVI to HDMI. Has anyone else ever used DVI to HDMI and got sound, or am I just that amazing? More importantly, is there anyone who has ever heard of this issue before and knows how to fix it? I'd appreciate any advice or constructive input of any kind.
