Ive been asked by a close friend to build him a pc. Using the limited online componet selection that i have here in SA here is what i have cobbled together.

    CPU
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6300

    MOBO
    Asus P5LD2 Deluxe

    RAM
    Corsair DDR2-667 1GB (2x512MB) XMS2 Twin2X

PSU (This is a suspect descision but money is always short so...)
    Antec SmartPower 2.0 450W

    GPU
    XFX Geforce 7600GT

I am a little worried about compatibility with the mobo and the conroe. Are there any issues here. I want to do a good job so if there are any sugestions or comments they would be welcome. Thanx

it shud be com[atible as it says it supports 1066mhz fsb but it doesnt list the conroe cpu so it may be a thing to rethink,
    **Socket 775 for Intel Pentium D / Pentium 4 / Celeron
    Intel® EM64T / EIST
    Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology ready
    New power design supports Intel® next generation 04B/04A & 05B/05A CPU **
its a shame that it only supports ddr2 up to 667mhz though

    I don't believe that board support's Conroe.

The ones I know do are the following:

Intel 975BX rev 3.04 (the latest revision has the proper voltage support)
    Abit AB9/AB9 Pro
    Abit AW9D series
    Asus P5B Deluxe
    Asus P5ND2
    Gigabyte P965-DQS
    ECS P965A-T

There may be a few others that can, but the Conroe list is pretty short.

The motherboards with the Intel P965 chipset or the nForce 570/590 Intel editions will all support Core 2 (Conroe), since they're designed with it in mind.
