ok... i have a hp cd writer plus 8000, and it's very slow at reading cd's so i got a new AGI 56X CD-ROM. i built my computer and know a lot about building them... but i can't seem to get the new cd drive working. it installs fine and win xp recognizes it. when i put in a new cd a cd icon appears next to my mouse, and you can tell that the drive is reading the cd. but, when i try to go into my computer and open the drive it says "Please insert a disk into Drive E:. anyone have any ideas to what might be wrong?

Sounds like the lens in the drive is bad. Get that one replaced and go from there.
