Ok, so rules: You can spend as much as you like, but it has to be a standard desktop pc, not a dual processor.. and you've got to think about cooling as well.. mine: Case: Lian-Li PC V2100 Silver Aluminium Full-Tower (No PSU) (CA-032-LL) £188.60 PSU: OCZ PowerStream 520w Power Supply (CA-011-OC) £91.25 CPU: AMD Athlon 64 4000 (Socket 939) - Retail (CP-098-AM) (CP-098-AM) £414.95 Motherboard: MSI K8N Neo4 Diamond nForce4 SLi (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-047-MS) £129.95 Memory: OCZ 1GB (2x512MB) PC4400 Dual Channel Gold Series Limited Edition EL-DDR CAS3.0 (MY-031-OC) X 2 £450.00 Graphics: Asus Extreme AX800XT PE/2DHTV ATI Radeon X800 XT PE 256MB DDR3 VIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-061-AS) X 2 £739.90 Hard Drives: Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10,000RPM SATA 8MB Cache - OEM (HD-015-WD) X 3 £305.85 Optical Drives: Asus DRW-1604P 16x DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter - Retail (CD-014-AS) £47.95 Asus DVD-E616P1 16X DVD-ROM / 48X CD-ROM - Retail (CD-002-AS) £14.20 Floppy: 1.44 Floppy Drive - Silver (CD-001-AP) £6.50 Monitors: Samsung SM-213T 21" LCD Monitor - Silver (MO-013-SA) X 2 £1,242.40 Extras: Enermax UC-9FATR2 Multifunctional Panel Silver (BB-001-EN) £29.95 Total: £4,302.27 (not including delivery) *I WISH*
I would but I'm lazy so i can't post any prices and exact names. But I have a very good idea of what I'd get Athlon 64 FX-55 .....
Obviously for that sort of money if i wanted a AMD 64 FX-55 i would have gone for it, except they are incredibly rubbish for any sort of overclocking, and so i would choose the 4000, as you would be able to overclock it loads. If i wanted a Dual Processor, i would go for a top spec Dual Opteron 2.4GHZ, but then it would only be used properly in F@H, and F@H is gr8, cos ur helping the world out, but tbh it aint worth that much. And i promise that i will buy all the regular users on the forum their dream machine, with all the extras and everything if i ever win more than £5 Million on the lottery, whilst on the forums. PROMISE! I would just buy shit tones of Dual Opterons, and make some Dual Opteron Clusters in my garage. have a OC12 line through my house and just run F@H on them, and web servers and rubbish, and we'd just PWN everyone ROFL.
If I won 10 million I'd put it into a savings accout like ING Direct and get 5% interest APR. That would ive you £500,000 every year! With that you could live on it with extras. Shame money only comes to those who have it.

10 million dollars?..... If I ever come across that much money...hehehehe!...yah, right!!!... not only will I spend the 50 or 60 thousand to get you The Regulars the computer of your dreams...I'll even spring for the airfare for a Geek Convention in Reno and give you each 5000 US spendin' cash...but don't hold your breath...I 've got a better chance of being hit by a falling airplane!!!
Actually the chances of a plane crashing these days are probably less than winning the lottery. Thing is you can live off the interest of a big win. but if you do win one day you can always give the money to me
personally, I don't have that much faith in banks to leave a large sum in their often incompetent hands...especially with the economy being what it is...nah!...I would spend n' invest...diversify it...but definitely...absolutely...positively...without-a-doubt...would not give it to you! Besides...you're already rich!
Where did you get that idea? I'm not rich your an adult who cna get a job. I'm a 14 year old in the UK with pretty good skills and ability with absolutly no opportunities until i'm 16. Anyway i don't see much risk in leaving it with banks. If the bollox up you can sue their ass.
not here in Canada...banks are controlled by the government..can't sue...even if you could you wouldn't get your money back...Canadian government policy " we don't make mistakes..and if we do..it musta been your fault " !!! and banks here are only insured for a few hundred dollars...the rest is deposit at your own risk...but seriously, because the banks aren't privatized...the only way you could really lose your cash would be if the government went bankrupt!
