I was just wondering whether you had any news on that one... what will they call it? X2XXX ? Also do they still maintain the end of january deadline?
I'd really like to know where they are... it's in a month or so that it'll be launched, so we should have some news... didn't find anything that's why I'm asking.
It's generally thought (though there really hasn't been official word) from most reputable hardware sites, that an educated guess says second week of February for launch. And no, we don't know anything. We really didn't know anything until dailytech told us what we wanted to hear leading up to the G80launch, so I'm not really expecting much on the ATI front until end of January (when people start upgrading for Vista, since most people are holding out to see what's happenin). Just be patient.
I've heard very little, outside of roughly when they'll be launching it. I doubt they want to wait too long, as nVidia won't sit around twiddling their thumbs while AMD catches up (in case you missed it, AMD owns ATi now).
yeah, I know... apparently the R600 will have better performance than the 8800... just hope it won't be too late (like delayed beyond Feb 07).
I suspect that the R600 will be better than the 8800GTX, Nvidia have allready released there DX10 Flagship wayy before ATi release theres, this means ATi has had a chance to look at the 8800GTX, infact i bet ATi purchased an 8800GTX, seen the performance, took it apart and analyzed it. Dont worry, ATi will have the upper hand with there Flagship, i'm sure of it
ATi is pretty good about the finesse on the hardware part. Where they usually blow it is in driver support. However, with AMD running the show now, that aspect may very well get a crack from the whip.
ATi cards perform alot better when your using Omega or DNA drivers isntead of crappy ones from ATi with that damnd CCC (Catalyst Control Center), also they still havent fixed the bug were there is multiple isntances of CLi.exe running :\ and this prooves to be a performance hog, but you dont get this with Omega or DNA drivers because it dont have CCC, CCC is just like windows Vista, full of bloat .
Well yea, as long as ATi official drivers are they are, the Latest OMEGA Drivers are based on i think Catalyst 6.9 and Catalyst 5.7, something like that, but there better than the official ones.
nice, so they'll work with the mobility radeon X1600 of my iMac (using windows xp of course). Are they freeware? if so could you please post the link to the official website? Thank you!
Yea there freeware. OmegaDrivers.net - Home of the Omega Drivers for ATI & NVIDIA desktop/laptop cards. By: Omegadrive
The R600 is generally concidered to be a likely better performer and more advanced card but I wouldn't necessarilly credit that to the fact that they were able to check out the 8800GTX. ATI has been working with the model for a long time and the few months between the 8800 launch and the R600 launch wouldn't never be enough time to make any meaningful changes when they're currently working on getting enough stock and a bunch of lisensing and distribution stuff out of the way.
Its fake, there is a debate about it on overclockers forum, tbh i think the results are fake, look at 3d mark 05, i got 6440 with an x800xt pe, then you see is i a 7950GT only getting inbetween 7000 and 8000.
looks like one in any case... plus if it was a real one, then they'd have posted the official name not just R600 as it's the chip name...
