"He makes the claim that 'security guys break the Mac every single day. Every single day, they come out with a total exploit, your machine can be taken over totally. I dare anybody to do that once a month on the Windows machine.'"

from Slashdot: News for nerds, stuff that matters

something tells me he's going to regret saying that, in the same article he also claims that there is a root exploit for Mac every day.

sources did not confirm the absence of flying objects, as favored by CEO Steve Ballmer.

slightly off topic but i just found this on google news

Romania president tells Gates that piracy is good
Romania president tells Gates that piracy is good | Tom's Hardware UK and Ireland
if only they made their software a decent price to start with

it also seems that they have gone overboard with the need for ESRB ratings:
Vista breaks 90% of games, claims game publisher

at $2500 to get the rating isnt it just Gates keeping the smaller players out of the software market?

Most of a Macintosh system is proprietary, while this does not mean it is insecure... you just cant tell if it is without a fair amount of work.

M$ windows only 'survives' because its proprietary.

Open source forces you to write your code carefully, if you don't... your going to hear all about it! (which does get the holes out though).

One of the flavors of BSD (I cant remember which) has only had 1 remotely exploitable hole in the last 6 years (in the default setup), I Challenge Mr Gates to do that! (someone quoted to me that there had been 140,000 windows exploits in the last 12 years, one every 45 minutes... that does seem a little high to be believable, even for M$).

Oh, btw. That M$ word exploit is still unpatched after nearly 2 months, i suspect it *might* get patched this coming black Tuesday (whats the crack with M$ only releasing patches monthly? why not as there needed!)

    That'd be OpenBSD.
