gamer lcd help!

Widescreens are nice, but only for movies, and some games, if you plan on buying this as your main monitor too doing Web surfing and applications type stuff, I would think twice about getting a Widescreen Computer Monitor
 
i like the response time on the samsung but i am wondering if it's not too small. I cant put anything bigger than a 19" where i live. Should I get a bigger monitor?

Personally I'd go with the Samsung as they're a decent brand though I'm sure they do larger 4:3 size TFTs. Playing games on a widescreen even when they don't support widescreen resolutions doesn't seem that bad to me. I run some games at 1024x768 on a 26" LCDTV and they are fine. 1280x1024 is another good setting (great with the recent Tiberium Wars demo). Counter Strike on the other hand has the perfect settings and looks superb! I often wonder why all games these days aren't supporting widescreen resolutions. You also have the added bonus of watching films in the correct size.
 
i would take note of the GTG, thats gray-to-gray not black to white, so the actual response time is going to be a little slower than that but still good. I can't remember the generalization for that, but the actual response time will probably be something more like 6ms or 4ms. That said Samsung is great because they get a hold of the wafers for the LCD's first, they have good quality. I have a 17'', and i have no issues, its a good size. AND WOW, that Samsung model has a crazy contrast ration on it, thats really nice. yeah honestly if you were going to go widescreen i wouldn't go with anything lower than 1680 x 1050 for a resolution, and thats a 19'' widescreen so its not really 17''. It would be more like a wide 17''. But i really like widescreens, they are the way to go, any future display purchase of mine i don't think will be anything but a widescreen, even if there irrelevant rate now, in the near future they won't be, there a really good investment.
