Hi, I've had a lot of trouble in the past (about 2yrs ago) trying to get CS sourse or half life personal server for internet games with friends using my router. there doesnt seem to be much support for making servers with routers (coz its not as simple as a straight forward modem)

I did everything I was told too on this website, but couldnt get it working. Could someone please explain what I need to do, the port is 27015 and I will be hosting, it is a sky broadband netgear router, im not sure of the model number, if you want to know it let me know.

I can get into the netgear setup to change settings, but not sure what to do.

Thanks for any helps

I'm not sure what you are asking. If you want to use the NEGEAR router as a server, I don't think you can. However, you can use your computer as a server. Is that what you are trying to do? And yes, in either case, it would be helpful to know the model of the router.

1. Give your computer a Static IP
2. Go HERE and find (or search for) the NETGEAR section on that page and click the link for your router.
3. If you have any software firewalls (such as ZoneAlarm, windoze firewall etc) running on your machine make sure you white-list port 27015
4. Kick some A$$

ok tried to do what it said and it failed! complete and utter useless

what ip address are you giving to friends? it should be the one that you see on www.whatismyip.org, but be aware that if you have a dynamic address that it will change every so often
