I've just treated myself to a new Edge10 19" Widescreen LCD monitor and have been running it with a VGA cable with no problems. I decided to invest in a DVI cable because the picture quality isn't quite up to scratch for my liking. But after plugging in the DVI cable, the screen goes all scrambled and wierd (see image) when the login screen should appear (the Windows logo and everything before it is fine). I'm not sure if it's the cable, my graphics card (Sapphire X800 XL) or the monitor. I've even reinstall the ATi drivers to no avail. Anyone out there suffered similar problems?
Try booting in Safe Mode. If you get a good image, then lower the screen resolution somewhere to 800x600 and reboot. After reboot increase the resolution to the maximum (or as high as you wish).
Actually, it's not quite as solved as I thought ... When I cold boot the computer, it still does it every time. Even if the resolution is turned down a notch, it still does it. Now, I have to boot the computer with the VGA cable plugged it and then swap it to DVI after it's loaded up. This could get very irritating! I have it set to it's highest resolution (1440x900) because it's the only resolution that doesn't look either blurred or streched. Any ideas what could be causing this still?
