i know some routers have both USB & Ethernet connectors and they can access the net by using both the USB & Ethernet connections or either 1 of the connections and it's not a good idea because USB connections are slower & unreliable, however, if a router has both USB & Ethernet connections, presumably the Ethernet connection is fine & reliable and the USB is best left unused or not relied upon
 
If a router uses USB 2.0, then it has a maximum transfer speed of 480 Mbps. So if your connection speed is lower than 480 Kbps, then you could use a USB cable to connect to the router.

Is it not more like 480mbps? What was the point of the thread, couldn't understand it.
 
yes, but it's generally not a good idea to use USB routers, but, on routers that have both USB & Ethernet, is it still bad to use USB
