    Well this is a fresh install, but when I try and set automatic updates from disabled to automatic, it just goes right back to disabled. I'm not sure what to do.

    try this

    start -> run -> type -> services.msc -> look for "automatic updates" -> make sure the startup type is set to "Automatic" and the service status is "started" if not start it.

    Lol I know how to enable services, it just won't enable or set to auto when I set it or anything.

    try this (i'm giving instructions for the benefit of users who arent as tech savoy as you are)

    start -> run -> type

    regsvr32 wuapi.dll
    regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
    regsvr32 atl.dll
    regsvr32 wucltui.dll
    regsvr32 wups.dll

    press enter after each entry and wait for a success message.

    Awesome, set to auto. But when I hit 'start' it comes up with an Internet Explorer Script error for some reason...

    disable script debugging in internet explorer settings to see if it helps, whats the exact error message you get?

    Actually I rebooted the server to see if it would solve the script error issue, it didn't. Even after reg'ing the dll's, it still just automatically disables itself.

    I'm thinking a reload is in order here.
