Hard Drive Accident

Dear hardware forums,
I have a 250 GB hard drive and recently tried to partition it. Well... during that process I managed to partition about 30 GBs to Linux Ubuntu 9.04 but managed to mess that up. My Windows Vista installation is still on the hard drive, I can view it, etc through booting Ubuntu from DVD but whenever I try to turn my computer on I get a failed to launch Ubuntu because I deleted the Ubuntu hard drive partition so I'm currently stuck booting from DVD, I'm not exactly sure how to restore my Windows Vista Partition to boot first, so it ignores the bad installation of Ubuntu (Well deleted partition but still tries to boot from it) If anyone is able to help me that'll be awesome, thank you! :doh:
 
Try fixing the boot record - Apparently in Vista it is different to XP so as I do not have Vista, Google for 'Fix MBR Vista'. This will give you plenty of instructions to follow. You will however need a Vista DVD.

From what I read quickly, if you have an Upgrade DVD that will also suffice.

Good luck! Next time remove the Vista partition and stay with Ubuntu... hehehe.... ;)

not neccisarily but it is the easiest

if this had being XP i'd have recommended using the recovery console, however vista has had the recovery console removed, so the easiest way to fix this situation is to boot the vista DVD and use the repair or recover option when prompted

okay, so I basically just formatted my hard drive. was too much work, I have a product key though for my vista I bought, but my uncle decided to borrow the disc and get it broken if I downloaded Home Premium would I be able to use my retail key for the installation? thank you
I just want to play world of warcraft! :(
