The problem is, I have just bought a second monitor and I have plugged the cable in via a DVI-VGA adapter then hooked it up to my second monitor. My PC recognizes the monitor but no picture is shown. The same happens when I plug my first monitor into the second port. But the port that shows no picture works fine with a HDMI cable but not the VGA.

Can anybody help,

Many Thanks.

have you tried fiddling with the video settings?
i'm not sure what video card you have but usually they install their own software to where you can adjust settings.
you may need to enable dual monitor support first.
windows also has video settings if you don't have any software like nvidia control panel, ati, intel, etc.

I have yeh, I have tried a lot of different settings and the windows settings. When I take a screenshot it shows both screens but my other monitor doesn't show up. I have tried the other cable and monitor on the other port and it is working fine so I know that there is no fault with either the cables or monitors. I really need this working now it is starting to annoy me, I can't actually think what else it could be.

I have an Asus 4870 (this one Link)

Yeh I have updated my drivers and have the latest software. It is just having none of it.

I actually don't think it has anything to do with the monitor as it works perfectly on the other port.

is that other port running 1920 resolution?
my thinking is if the port is setup to run at that resolution and you plug an lcd in that doesn't support that high then you will get no display.
i'm just throwing out suggestions that you can try as you have tried many already. if you think you know whats wrong then i will let you figure it out.
