SD Splitting/Dual Mounting?

Hello All,

This may be a bit of a weird question but I am aware that android phones can share the SD card with a PC they are connected to, having it mounted in 2 locations.

What I would like to do is:
-Have an SD card slot
-From the slot would be 2 cables
-Each cable would then lead to a dummy SD card.

Then, theoretically, any changes will be saved by the devices on the SD card, even though they think they are saving to their own dummy.

Does anyone know if something like this is possible?

Well to my mind by the time you have tried to solder obscure wiring from an SD reader to two cards, if such a thing can be done which I doubt, then you could have put two individual cards in to transfer the data.

Sorry if this sounds negative.
 
I appreciate the honesty. However, it is not possible to switch between cards. This is to connect a phone to a Wildlife Camera so it can text when there are new images?

So, general consensus is: you think it is not possible?

initially i thought this thread was referring to partitioning a SD card, however, presumably the wildlife cam is actually a web cam and there are various texting website online so the desired end result could be achieved with macros and the appropriate hardware
 
Sorry, what do you mean by macros? The appropriate hardware being the hardware I described in the OP?
Essentially, I have some small boards with a GPRS modem that I want to attach to the wildlife camera, via SD connections.
@donkey42 are you saying you think this can be done?

theoretically, yes

by macros i mean something like this and obviously pre record the macros to do specific things when certain specific events happen

be warned macro programming can be tricky due to the obvious complexity involved, a great deal of planning should be your first step so as to avoid useless macros being created, you could easily spend the rest of your life debugging your macros, so i wish you good luck also you maybe interested in PICKit but that more for complete geeks like me
 
Ah, I see thanks! Right, well I have an app written that listens to a directory and texts new files to me, from the aforementioned boards.
So, you think I could use an SD slot and split it off into 2 dummy cards?
I guess the best way to find out is to just do it!

yes, i've found something thats much more fun to play with that i presume will achieve what you want, it's Eye-Fi as far as i can tell it is what you said, which make these
or is this something like what you mean,

Yes, I have found these as well but the person I am doing this for has already bought a lot of these cameras and they only have SD slots. Unfortunately, the splitter seems to be my only option. Thanks for the links though, will try the splitter and see where it takes me!
