Quick question: is VGA or a DVI-to-HDMI converter better?

    Hi all,

I just helped my friend buy a 22" monitor with VGA and DVI-D inputs. His laptop supports both VGA and HDMI.

He has a both a VGA and DVI-D cord, but I thought that maybe with this adapter (http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1416163&CatId=73) he'd get better image quality than he would just using VGA.

That said, I would greatly appreciate a second opinion.

    Thanks,

    Jay

I would suggest the DVI-D adapter. You'll get much better quality because the signal is already digital from its source. VGA outputs an analog signal, which results in poor quality (especially in HD resolution). I'm not even sure if VGA supports HD in the first place.
