these two psu's are the same price. which one shud i go for out of these two, hiper type m 580 watt sli cert. or antec truepower 480watt.
the hiper is a stripped down version of the type r with a single 120mm fan so i reckon it shud be quiet. any one had any experience.
wat bout the antec neo he 430watt with 384 watt on the 12v rail. wat i dont get is it has 48amps on the 12v rail but output is 384watt whereas the max output shud be 576watt and the max output for the 3.3v and 5.v rails are the max they shud be but max output is 430 watt and it only leaves 46watts for the 3.3 and 5.v rails.
    430-384=46watts

i don't want to get all technical, i just want to use some common sense. If i were in this situation i would ask myself these questions. "what has more output power? answer? the hiper. "What will allow me to plug more stuff into my computer? answer? the hiper. "Which one is SLI CERTIFIED not SLI READY" answer? the hiper. Ok so you've got 100 watts extra, so if you're planning to run dual 7900GTXs you've got 30 watts to spare on a fan.;)

i know that but i was considering noise, heat etc aswell. thats obvious that its got 100watts extra BUT i had purchased a type r and it produced so much heat that u cud bearly touch it for more than a about 15 seconds and it became noisy at minimal load after 5 minutes with loud humming. ne ways i ordered an antec neo he 500watt for 46pounds and i hpe that its a great psu. i was hoping to get the antec truecontrol for 60pounds but it was out of stock and now that it has com back, it is £78. thats just like paying 18pounds extra for no reason basically.

noise shouldn't be a problem, nor heat. that's very weird. maybe dust had collected on the fan blades and wasn't spinning as fast and producing optimal airflow. anyway, you purchased an antec so you should be happy, i was only fussing about the extra watts and the SLI certification not SLI READY (big difference) good choice nevertheless.

sli certified and sli ready is a bit Fuc**d up on the manufacturers websites becoz hiper type r and m's are tested to be sli certified but still on the website, it says sli ready. same with antec but they are sli certified as stated by sli zone.
