    2. Chrono Cross- really good idea, intersting story
    3. Legend of Mana
    4. Legend of Dragoon- mostly really sweet
    5. Legend of Legaia- not very popular but really good story also Dual Saga
    6. Star Ocean till the end of time- super imersive, great story really well written, good cast
    -thats good enough

Hmm, I used to believe FF VII was the greatest rpg of all, but after I tried playing it I got bored quickly, I guess I'm spoiled by it's successor on the PS2 FF X.

FF IX is really nice, I completed it multiple times. Although I never managed to get to the "Room of Emptiness" in time to get that Ubersword for Steiner; Excalibur II. I did defeat Ozma though, the hardest optional boss in any FF.

You should do a search here for Final Fantasy XII (PS2) and XIII (PS3) they'll rock your socks off.

    Greetings,

    Marcus.

I'm not really into the whole turnbased scene though I'd like to try FFX and Grandia III sometime. Otherwise I just stick with stuff like Diablo 2 and things with some RPG elements and stong stories and characterization like Beyond Good and Evil.

    Turn Based
Breath of Fire II, my first RPG, i had it for Super NES
Chrono Trigger, PLAYED THIS GAME FOR A LONG TIME. it was 120 dollars back then, so it was the ONLY game i played for years b/c my mom refused to buy more games after that one. I was completely satisfied.
Final Fantasy VIII I loved 7 and when 8 came out i was HOOKED...

    Action RPG

    Every Zelda Game
    Diablo II
    Guild Wars
there are maaaaaaany other good RPGs but to me these stood out the most when i played them.

Cool dude, but $120! And to think people are complaining about the rise in next gen prices today.

Chronotrigger for the SNES was THAT MUCH?! Ouch...glad I had a Sega Genesis ;) Such a good game though, as is Chronocross for PSX. A bit dated now, I suppose, but great storyline!

    Definition of dated:

    - Duck Hunt for NES
    - Pong (bllughh)
    - Asteriods

    Need I go on?

Compared to those titles, Chronotrigger is not dated at all. But compared to today's RPGs (FFX anyone?), Chronotrigger/Chronocross is a bit dated. Only in graphics, though. The gameplay stays true.

yes thats the point, a good RPG relies on story and substance not how sweet the graphics are, and i'm not saying they don't help because they do. I didn't like FF X that much, i would have to say ranks lowest out of all the final fantasies i've played, and i've played from 6 through 10

    FF V
    FF VII
    Diablo 2: LoD expansion
    Grandia 2
    Any Zelda (Except Manjora's Mask.....SUCKS)

Majora's mask didn't suck as much as it was a let down compared to Ocarina of Time. Ocarina left you wanting more adult link, instead you got shape shifting..ok yeah you're right it sucked.

I have many favourites but im gonna go for Beyond Good and Evil. This didn't sell at all when it came out, i don't think it was marketed well enough.

This is one of the best games ive played. Top story, Engaging plot, some nice touches.

If u haven't had the pleasure please play this game
