Hi all, For the last 4 months of having my card, it started makin noises, then i sent it back 1 month ago, to the high street where I bought it 10 months ago for £94, a week after he "Fixed" it, I woke up one morning, turned on my PC, heard a VERY loud fan scraping noise and a snap noise, i turned it off, went inside my pc and found that 5 of the 9 blades had snapped off as one, i then took the whole fan off, and its in my retail box for the card, and stuck on a 60mm fan, USING BLUE TAC, and its powered by a 4 pin molex. All has been fine, in the past 3-4 weeks of having it this way. It has not fallen off or anything, in fact my card no longer comes up with overheat messages, its just, is this safe? if the fan supposedly does fall off, will my card melt? or will nVIDIA shut it down? Below I have some pictures that may interest you all, one is of the card, and the blue is where the card is held on by the blue tac. The other shows the warning message I got when my card WAS overheating. Should I return my card for a refund/exchange? OR Leave it the way it is? Thanks
well if u can get it repaired for free, then put the old fan on and just say what happened but dont tell them u put on a different fan becoz they mite just say u fiddled around with it and fu*ked it up. it shud be fine when they replace it with a new fan but if u can get a refund, which i doubt, then get a different card that is much better or buy this card agen for a cheaper price( as its been a year)
You could get an arctic cooler for it, the Arctic Cooling NV6 Rev.2 will fit it. It is only £14 from overclockers. Overclockers UK Arctic Cooling
