Just thinking, hardwareforums.com must be a very sought after domain, worth a hellovalot (not that we ever want you to sell sniper!). Lucky for us that its something like this rather than "www.h4rdw4r3f0rumzt3chie.com" That would suck.
HWF g00t d0m4in nam3 Hehe yeah I like the name, easy to remember, simple, describes the site well. :good: 0MG 7h4t d0m41n i5 t3h l33t0rz!!!!11!one!!2
It all goes worng if you miss the s off though. Might be worth buying if your get the chance. How long has hardwareforums.com been going? I would have though it would have been one of the first to get whipped up and gone forever! Im knid of made up ive got ultimate-fighter, for £2.50 something for two years I just need to use it!
was it just me or is what zues said kinda hard to follow, anyways i think its a good name chose it over some three other computer related forums.
I think what zeus is saying if you enter hardwareforum.com instead of hardwareforums.com you will get a different site. I registered the domain in 2001, no one had taken at the time, so I bought it with the intention of selling it but decided to develop it instead. I *was* going to sell it when we only had like 54 members of something, even with such low amount I had plenty of offers. Also the owner of hardwareforum.com wanted to buy it but I decided not to sell, here we are today growing as always and with no plans to sell.
Sniper knew what I meant This place is far more successful than hardwareforum too. Its only got 800 odd threads
Success is in the eye of the beholder... forums/websites are not ranked by activity as much as popularity and content...so...even though hardwareforum may have only 800+ threads it has a page rank of 5. Alexa works different than Google...in that with Alexa the lower the number the better...1 is the best... I know how time consuming promotion can be...it took a lot of effort getting both the website and forum ranked by Google and Alexa in just 8 months ( actually we were ranked in three months but you don't count ranks under 3 generally)...and we're expecting to go higher next time the rankings come out...so far we have over 100 page ranked pages...of 2 or higher... our first Alexa spike came in March, three months after we started. Hardwareforum.com isn't in the top 100,000 either. Sniper's got a great site here...but...it's not well promoted with the search engines...which is indicative of the low page rank. If we were to link to each other the TAZ could help Hardwareforums and in turn we would benefit from the future association. I'm presently reconstructing the website...to make it even more SEO friendly and more in tune with the forum. 6 months ago I wouldn't have even mentioned it...but...at our present growth and constant rise in SEO ...I think a link exchange or banner exchange with the TAZ would do a lot to raise the profile of Hardwareforums with search engines. I expect we'll be page ranked 5 or 6 by the end of our first year. Eg
Hi Egaladeist Personally I think the the Alexa rating doesn't mean much unless you get under around 20,000, I my self was able to bring hardware forums in the top 40,000 by user their toolbar as that's how their Alexa rating works (though it might have changed) e.g. Related Info for: hardwareforums.com/ Also I redirect all non www traffic to www.hardwareforums.com so if you check the rank of www.hardwareforums.com its got a page rank of 4. Exchanging links with other sites would help, so I hope to have a system setup soon as B has already suggested we have affiliates links page.
hi Sniper, With Alexa in a way I agree...but...I'd put it closer to 60000 to have any real substantial value...it seems to coinside with a Google page rank of 6... as far as the toolbar goes I don't know... yep...the www does seem to make a difference with Google but not with anyone else...not sure why...I don't bother with it myself...I usually leave it off... I primarily use stats as a reference rather than an absolute because they change constantly... I think exchanging links would be a good idea as we are progressing very well...better than I anticipated. Eg
