Power Usage

Hi, i have just set up dual monitors with my old emachines 15" CRT and my 17" Medion TFT, i am just wondering, when i press the power button on the monitor to turn it off, is the monitor still using power? as its standby when the light is flashing, i fully turn it off on the front with the switch and the light aint flashing, so does it still use power?

In standby it uses a little power, if its fully off it shouldn't use any.

When i push the button at the front to turn it fully off, is that really fully off, as the plug is still plugged into the mains so wont it still suck up power?

i dont think it wud because the power is cut off at a certain point, it may use power until it gets to that certain point but then not any more as nothing is using that power. its like a wall socket, power still runs through the wires but until it reaches the point of the switch where it stops as it has nowhere to go

Well, if you want to get really technical then yes, merely having it plugged in uses power, as do all other appliances. That is, however, more theoretical than what you are talking about and deals with minute amounts of electricity. For all practical purposes, once you push the button to turn it off it won't use any power.
