    AntiVirus Software

Norton is trash. I have been using AVG for years now, I love it personally. I don't really see a reason why you wouldn't want to use it. I have never had any real issues with it.

Why people use dual OS systems

I have a dual boot system, XP and Ubuntu - I use Ubuntu for everything except gaming - I am still working on getting Wine to play friendly with my games. I have XP and Ubuntu each on different hard drives so just in case i screw something up on one system, it wont affect the other system. Soon...

    Better setup?

Nice setup, I would suggest that if you are able too, to purchase the parts on your own and build your own rig - you will save a ton of money and have more flex room on what you can pick out.

    e6600 or e6700

E6600 and 6700 both have the same L2 Cache, Its not worth the extra money for the few hundred MHz extra. You can Easily overclock the E6600 to 2.666GHz if you wanted too.

    Display problem

Im going to need more details: I would first start by resetting your BIOS; read your motherboard manual, take out the battery and reset the jumper on the motherboard. Then reseat the RAM. If that doesnt fix the problem, I am going to need your full system specs.

    Will games work on linux?

As said above, if you have an ATI card, Dont bother trying.. Open GL on ATI cards Linux suck horribly. There are a few tweaks that can be done but 99% of the time you arent going to achieve the desired performance. If you have a Nv card on the other hand, you will mostlikely experience the...

i feel so stupid asking this

Its not really bad if your mobo doesnt have enough fan plugins.. Get the connectors and get a fan controller, you can get one for as cheap as 20 dollars. It will allow you to still have a quiet computer and be able to monitor and adjust your speed as you see fit.

Is a saphire x1950 pro supost to do this?

Well, Having NO fans in your case is a bad thing really. Without proper circulation your parts are going to be hurting in the future. Having the side of your case open 24/7 really isnt too great either, it is leaving your computer too exposed to the elements. I believe that Temp 1 is your...

Is a saphire x1950 pro supost to do this?

What is the circulation like in your case (How many Fans, what sizes, and placements) Also what is the Ambient temperature in your room where your computer is. Use Speed fan to get the current temperatures of your system (screenshot would work nicely) Also, what is the *normal* running...

    300GB external drive wont read

Basicially what is happening is OSX doesnt like Windows formatting and Windows formatting doesnt like OSX formatting. Macs use a HSF filesystem while Windows uses FAT32(Old) and NTFS(new(er)). Considering on what OS you formatted your drive on is what filesystem you are going to have. Your...

    Safari 3

My original evaluation of it was a little incorrect, after using it for about 24 hours I decided to go back to Firefox, It ran fine but I now believe that Safari isn't widely enough supported on all websites - It makes it a pain for a few websites that I often go to. Im happy that Apple is...

    PC problems, motherboard?

I would also try to disconnect all not needed hardware from your computer when you boot up, It could be a failing piece of hardware that is causing this issue(Hopefully not your mobo). This includes all but one stick of ram, storage hard drive, PCI* cards (Other then Video.. Unless you have an...

    Time to Upgrade

Well I never saw that artical before, I suppose if the information is accurate and you have the money for that CPU then I would go for it.. I still don't think there is a need for quad core currently, but It surely wouldn't hurt to have it for the future just as long as something new doesn't...

Source Lag with Amazing Comp!? Help

I would do everything mentioned above; I would download a program called CCleaner. I would use the uninstaller from that program to remove unused programs from your computer, also Use the registry cleaner on it.. I use it once every month. If nothing else, it keeps your registry somewhat clean...
