Something like that happened similarly to my netbook after I accidentally mixed wrong tempo and frequencies in Audacity. I thought it was a hopeless case so I just suffered bad choppy playback for days. After how many weeks, it gradually fixed itself. I don't know what actually happened.
I think it would be okay as long as you don't buy fake ones. Some micro SD card actually changed the value of the file capacity so it will actually continue to write data bigger than the space available even if the data isn't there. In short, when you try to view the data, it couldn't be open.
