Agree. I'm not sure if it's coincidental or not or if there is a correlation between the two. I don't think that overclocking your GPU affected your memory stick. But if there is, maybe your GPU fried the stick or maybe the stick just faulted out on its own.

Yes, your OS is setup on your hard drive so switching to a another mobo-cpu won't matter. I wouldn't recommend you get a DDR2 motherboard. That would be a waste. Instead i suggested you send back the sticks because they're so expensive. You can get larger, faster DDR3 ram for half the price! But...

I read that lower timing and higher speeds are best. So go with the lower timing (9) and if you want to in the future, overclock (if you know what youre doing).

Processors are fairly easy to replace. A little thermal paste on top and you're done. But lets not jump to it just yet. Download Speedfan while running SC2 and post up the temps. A lot of times the game could be slow because of high temps.
