Setting up network between linux and windows

I don't know squat about Linux networking, let alone sharing an internet connection. However, I think you'd be much better off either, purchasing a *nix supported Wireless adapter or simply plugging your laptop into one of the router's free LAN sockets.

    CRT vs LCD sticky

Looks good, but just a couple of things I have to mention: Your post is very compact and a little difficult to read. Consider some revision. Response Time- 8ms is not very high. While yes, the lower the better, 8ms was the sweet spot where manufacturers seemed to have eliminated blurring. Some...

    Upscale Video?

There is none that I know of. You'd be better off buying a standalone Upscaling DVD player. Some good ones to look out for are the Philips DVP5960, LG DNX190UH and the Denon DVD-1730.

    TV card

Sure, it's possible. But without knowing the make and model of the card, it's hard to say.

    agp cards

The latest AGP video cards that are out are the X1950 Pro and the 7800GS. There is also the Gainward Bliss 7800GS which uses the G71 core. The X1950 Pro usually beats the 7800 in most tests and is considerably cheaper than the 7800. The other good thing about the X1950 is it's feature set isn't...

Here you go Acer, here are all my passwords...

Plus, if you really know how to fix a computer, you should know how to bypass the passwords. Sounds like incompetence to me, for a huge company like Acer anyway.

    F.E.A.R Extraction Point Graphics

You don't need kick ass graphics to get a good playing experience.

Received free Ice Age 2 dvd from Symantec

As good as it would be getting a good action flick with probably the worst security software out there, their choice of film ensures everyone in the family can watch it.

    LG GSA 4167 DVD writer

As Saba said, try burning at a slower speed. Burning a disc is a very system intensive task. Your Hard Drive may not be fast enough to supply the data at a consistent rate at higher speeds. Another idea would be to Defragment your Hard Drive so it's got less work to do seeking the data...

NVidia 5600 GTX VIVO - Any good?

I think for most people on eBay, it's a competition just to beat the other bidders, regardless if they really need the part or not.

    SLI help

No. You can't mix and match cards with different chips.

    Side Panel Mod

You could use a jigsaw with a metal cutting attachment, but it would be a very rough cut and would require a fair bit of filing to smooth things out. Your best chance at getting a successful, clean and accurate cut would be with a Dremel cutting tool. Very precise cutting with minimal mess.

Got a New HD LCD TV

Probably for the first time ever, I purchased something for use with something else. Today, I bought a new 26 inch Teac LCD television for AU$1599. Fully High Definition compatible with DVI, Component, HDMI (v1.3 I assume) and everything else. Along with the TV, for good measure I threw in a...

    Buying a PCI graphics card

Perhaps the best of the FX series was the 5950 Ultra. Yes it was beefy, noisy and had high power requirements but it did alright. Still sucked compared to the 9800XT though :P

    S-Video

I can honestly answer question 1 but the others, I just don't know. All screens have a resolution limit. With computer monitors, the screen will simply refuse to display said resolution and turn off (and probably make some screeching noises in the case of a CRT screen). With television's...

    value my system

It's still a fairly beefy system. Most computers off the shelf from say HP and Packard Bell aren't even that good.

    DVD Media Quality Guide

That's true. My very first spindle of discs were 4th class media and almost every disc has perished since then. I then purchased some TDK and Sony discs, and have never had a failed burn, plus they all work still. This is why I use those brands exclusively. If you data is important to you, get...

MN-730... Do I need a new wireless card?

There have been alot of problems arise with installing SP2 by itself, not to mention how damn long it takes. It may interest you to slipstream the SP onto your XP CD. That way, it gets integrated directly onto the install CD and you won't have to worry about it any more. Autostreamer being the...
