    What GTX 960? You should be able to use Displayport/HDMI also. Unless you want that display for gaming, 144Hz is waste. So you're better off with just "normal" 60/75Hz display. Screen resolution and size is up to you.

    I'm running out of ideas. Reinstalling Windows is usually good way to solve many problems. If you have second HDD (or partition), you can install Windows there and see if problem is still present.
