    how old is this laptop ? It sounds like either A virus or the hard drive is bad.. Did you format the hard drive first ? Also did you run scan disk...

    Are you running 64 bit or 32 bit ? how much ram do you have ? What OS are you running ? Vista or 7 ? You could try a sound card to bypass this...
