I would go with the 6600GT, the 6600GT blows the 9800pro away. Crucial ballistix has tighter timings, less latency but very expensive....
I don't know, but I'm pretty sure DFI can do a BIOS update with supplied motherboard software through windows. If not, you can run a BIOS update...
I'd get a possibly used IBM thinkpad. They can be pricey new Dell, Toshiba are good.
