    Ummm.....

I've been using Ubuntu for some time now. Before that I was using Kubuntu. I did have a short spell on openSUSE but thats long over. Since being on these forums, I suppose my only major change of opinion is that of GNOME vs KDE. I used to be an advocate of KDE but felt it was going in the wrong...

    Installing apps in Kubuntu

What are you trying to install exactly? Most applications can be installed via deb packages these days. Are you looking in the right location?

    Ummm.....

Quickly responding to your posts, and therefore not taking into account what's already been said, I'd recommend downloading and installing Ubuntu. Quite simply, Ubuntu is what everyone uses and (in my opinion the best) is very easy to gain support.

    List of DRM games

I think DRM only reflects the license you insert. AVG is not going to remove legitimate games

    THE Power Supply Sticky

I put forward the following recommendation based on personal experience: Hiper be removed from recommended.. Last year I purchased an Hiper 350W PSU to match up an old Northwood P4 HT system. The PSU lasted less than a year, it started squeaking and would no longer power up my PC. It was...

    linux question please

The only way you are really going to be able to tell whether Linux is for you is if you download and install it. I'd suggest if you are unsure, install VMware or VirtualBox and install Ubuntu inside a virtual machine

That's true. I did use Visudo at one point, when Ubuntu had it call nano. But now they have it call Vim and I don't know how to use it! I really should get around to learning Vim at some point... :D

    Hiper PSU disappointment

The Hiper HPU-4S350 PSU is still under warranty but I thought bugger it. So what if they fix or replace it? I will have to pay for postage and still end up with a PSU that is likely to perish in a year. So i've purchased a Seasonic S12 II 380W PSU. I've heard nothing but praising reviews of...

    Hiper PSU disappointment

Just over a year ago I purchased an Hiper PSU for under £30. Pretty cheap for a PSU I must say, but I expected it to last longer than it has. A couple of days ago, the Hiper PSU started making squealing noises, at least, I am 90% sure its the PSU. Yesterday my PC didn't switch on. I had to use...

    USB wireless network adapter

An 802.11g network provides a theoretical network speed of 54Mbps. The fastest internet service in the UK provides 24Mbps. Even with a poor reception you'd be getting a connection that is fast enough for the average broadband connection.

    Using multiple sound cards

Interesting that you make the point about modern sound cards not really improving, but just offering gimmicky features. That's exactly what I thought of the X-FI range. Looking at the bigger picture, VIA make some of the best sound chips around. Their Envy24HT is what powers the Audiophile...
