Hi, I want to buy a new graphics card to enable 1600 x 1200 Resolution on my 17" monitor, i am looking at the Gainward FX powerpack Pro/680 TV/DVI FX5200 256MB DDR card, or a similarly priced item. The problem i am facing is that i am currently using a ASRock k7s41gx motherboard and there is a sticker over the AGP slot, saying that a 3.3v card will damage my system! I cant find the details of this card or any other card for that matter anywhere!! Not even the manufacturers website Gainward.com does not say the voltage of this card, i emailed them and got a very unconvincing response saying “I have been told it should be alright”. can anyone help me?!?
AGP 1.0 (2x) = 3.3v
AGP 2.0 (4x) =1.5v
AGP 3.0 (8x) = 0.8v
In other words, 8x AGP cards (AGP version 3.0) will work fine with your motherboard.
Thanks a lot mate that really does help, I’ll buy it today! Cheers! ![]()
