ati x1950pro PLEASE HELP :(

I have just fitted and installed the drivers of my new graphics card (ati x1950pro) and it seems to be working okay, but in the instructions manual it says under CONTROL PANEL>SYSTEM>HARDWARE>DEVICE MANAGER and under the ‘SOUND VIDEO AND GAME CONTROLLERS’ tab it should show ‘ATI t200 unified AVStream driver’ HERE >>

But it doesnt show this, and it says in the manual if it doesnt show this then the drivers need to be re-installed, Which i have done several times but still had no change.

i was wondering if this will effect the way the graphic card runs?
As it will not let me play Cod5 but this graphics card should
can anybody help please i will highly appreciate it
thanks.

What does it list under display adapters? That is where it should really be. Have you installed the latest Catalyst driver from the amd/ati site?

ok thanks.
it says:
radeon x1950 pro
radeon x1950 pro secondary

is that right?
and yes i have installed the latest from the website.

Is your DirectX up to date?

im not sure
i think it is direct x9.0
is that the latest

9.0c or 10 if you’re using Vista

im just downloading the full package of 9.0c now and i will see if it makes a difference, im not sure if it is the one i have at the minute

OK, if that doesn’t work what you wanna do is uninstall your drivers again. Then run a registry cleaner. Then install the updated drivers from the website.

ok pal
im just installing the direct now
i also tried that before
using CC cleaner and Driver Cleaner Pro

Well other than that if it still doesn’t work then you will want to reformat your hard drive. If it still does the same thing then you are probably going to need to replace it.

ok thank you for all your help
re-format as is fully restore my pc?

Yep, do a full reformat of your hard drive (don’t use quick format.)

okay :frowning:
if i do that do you think it will solve my problem which i had in the first place?

It definately could. It would fix any hardware conflicts you have (hopefully) and get rid of any conflicting drivers/registries.
